What tire pressures are you running for Pilot Power 2ct? Both Track and Street?

Thanks

I can tell you exactly what I loved running on the street.

36/36 this summer.

The range we got from a track guy for the street was between 35 to 37 psi. But I didn't like the way the bike turned at 37, but loved it at 36.

So my personal recomendation would be to stick between 34 (cold weather) and 36 (warm weather).

This is all stating at COLD tire pressure which means before you ride your bike in the morning, you would see 36psi front and back.

bought my bike out of a year long hibernation.

checked and changed EVERYTHING (OIL, FLUSH COOLANT, battery etc)

forgot to check tire pressure.

took me so long to realize why it felt like I was riding a 20 ton truck. Both tires were sitting at 20psi.

Sigh. So yeah 20/20 is not the number. lol

^+1, though it seems high, michelin does in fact recommend 35-37 front and rear, street and track, depending on weather. you get a lot more wear out of them too at those pressures. i used to run them at 30/30 when i didn't know any better and got 1100 cornering miles out of a set. then i switched to 36 f+r and i got 2100 without out any noticeable decrease in grip. just goes to show- every tire is different. do your research when it comes to psi, don't assume all tires are the same.

for solo riding i run 36/36 for the street.

trackdays i run 31/29 or 30/28 but lately i'm getting better results with 30/28.

I am planning on starting at 30/30 and going from there. At my last track day I was running 26f/25r based on a recommendation from a friend that races (his info came from the Michelin Man at the track for a 99 GSXR600). The bike felt stable and the grip was excellent, but the turn in felt a little slow. I just left it alone though since I was running decent times and the bike felt so stable. I just did a bunch of suspension work to the bike since then so we are going to dial it in Friday.

Michelin PP......street...31F 30R Cold Pressures 600RR
Michelin PP......Track....30F 26R Cold Pressures 600RR

I was told to run the PP 2CT's at the same pressures as the straight PP

Power Race.....Track only....29F....22R...........This is on a 1000RR with Ohlins on the front and rear and suspension dialed in for a 195 lb rider

tried 32/32 recently during my trackday at the new racetrack CIS, i didn't feel any noticeable decrease in grip when i was running 30/28, in fact i'm wearing much closer to the edge now than i did with 30/28 so i guess the higher tire pressures is holding up the sidewall for the profile to work.

i'm going to keep it at 32/32 for the meantime & set up the suspension around it. i have now developed some scallops at the trailing edge of the tires so i guess i need to fiddle with the rebound damping a bit more.

i had another chance to take it to the track this morning & after setting up the suspension yesterday for the proper sag & rebound/compression adjustments the 32/32 feels great! i have only experienced a few minor slips here & there but it feels planted thanks to the well tuned suspension, the scallops that formed the trackday before is starting to flatten out after i added 2 clicks harder on rebound.

wear is pretty good as even with a fast intermediate pace the tires didn't tear or develop lots of debris which is good bcoz i want a longer lasting tire while still maintaning high levels of grip.

before i was a skeptic of running higher pressures for the track but thanks to those who posted their experiences with higher pressures now i am a believer after 2 trackdays of testing & tuning.

You are running 26R in a 190 I assume?
Nope! The 26 Rear (cold pressure) is on my wife's 600RR trackbike, which runs a 180/55/17

I run Power Race on my 1000RR and the rear is set to 22 psi cold.

I will say a couple of things about running a Pilot Power or the 2CT (which runs the same pressures as the regular PP).....
1. The lower your tire pressure is (within reason of course), the more the tire flexes and the more it heats up, and the stickier it gets.
2. Getting a certain high number of trackdays out of a set of tires is not nearly as important to me as stickiness and grip. All it takes is running too much pressure and the tire not coming up to temps and lose the front end and..........down ya go! It's just not worth it to me. I'll take getting fewer days on a set of tires and having all the grip that I can use for my skill level, rather than over-inflating them to save on the mileage. YMMV!

Same here: 30 Fr / 22 Rear cold on Power Races. Sticks good.

When I was racing my TZ250 I was using Bridgestones. The tech who mounted them and moved from Dunlop to Bridgestone told me to immediately check the pressures as soon as I got off the track
I was told by the tech that I should have a 7% rise in pressure from cold. Was confused since I used tire warmers. I went with the readings using the warmers as my cold baseline.
