Guide to installation of Spy 5000m alarm and remote start! There is really nothing out there so Im going to explain the way I did it with tips and pictures! *I am not responsible for any damage done so do at your own risk (I fried my computer the first time I did it). The bike is a 2007 cbr600rr but you can use this for other years too but wires may be different-- pm me if you need help.

Lets get to work:

1. Remove necessary parts-- DO NOT FORGET TO REMOVE THE BATTERY!

2. Hide all the equipment and run the wires - I used space under the seat and in passenger seat (when I installed the Led the whole was too large that I drilled so I lined the light with tape to secure it).. Dont forget to add heat shrink to protect the wires and keep them organized/compact **I moved some of my equipment than pictured to be better hidden**

3. Yellow wires - Splice into bikes turn signals (light blue and orange wire in photo)

Image

3. Blue wire- Splice into bikes red/yellow wire on large relay with main 30amp fuse (This is what starts the bike and I think its the starter relay but correct me if im wrong)

Image

4. Brown Wire- needs to go into any of the bikes key on positive so I spliced into one of the wires on the back of the fuse box (i think it was one going into the headlight/turnsignals/ horn relay but use a test light to find one) --- it is the red/black bike wire

5. Pink and Gray wires are the ones that confuse everyone the most so here is how I did it -- You need to find a wire that is hot when the kill switch is on and turns off when the kill switch is off (use a test light!) I found a red wire (it was solid red but it looked like a white or silver dot on it too) that goes in the back of a harness on the right of the battery. Once you find this wire you have to cut it and connect the gray to the side going from the harness and connect the pink to the side going towards the harness (I soldered the wires & dont forget heat shrink or some sort of insulations)

6. The red and black wires -- are attached to the battery last (use an adapter thing at the end of the wires to secure the connection -mine are marine ones) *there are two grounds in this set up so dont be confused that you have two black wires, both are grounds although I did not connect both to the battery (One is connected to the frame)**

7. Your spy alarm and bike are now set up! Check all connections and start playing with the remote! I have a digital copy of the manual as well so pm me if you need that.

Hey guys, I've just installed my alarm and everything works fine for a period of like, 2hours?

What happened was after it's being installed, i kinda played around and it works, but when I headed to work, I can't seem to arm the system anymore. My remote shows no signal, whichever button I press only gives me the beep sound on the remote and nothing on the bike itself. what could possibly be the problem here?

Hello all. I haven't been here for a long while. After a couple years, I've finally dusted off my Spy alarm and installed it on my bike. I've totally forgot what I've mentioned in the forum before but I did test out the wires before I've made the install. Is it just as I've stated. I've installed with no problem. It works fine and shuts off fine. I've read some of the forums in regards to the pink and grey wires, and yes, they are optional. But if that wire is not connect in series (as in cut the wire and connect), the shut off switch would be useless. If anyone needs help installing, I can probably provide some assistance.

Exactly what I figured too. Since you have to press the ignition button on the Spy 5000 dongle twice I wonder if there is a way to get the pump primed on the initial press and then have it crank on the second like it does by default. It sounds like it would be possible in theory but I am by no means an expert in this lol.

Ok, so I've been combing through this awesome thread reading through everyone's issues and successes. I've noticed that my problem hasn't occured for anyone and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

First off:
I have the Spy system setup and functioning just fine, the alarm is great and I really like the system overall.

My problem is the remote start. I've seen some people have had problems getting it to work at all. I can get the remote start to start my bike but it takes somewhere between 2-6 attempts for it to turn over. I get it to crank just fine, but its like the system only cranks for ~2 seconds then gives up, this isn't enough time for the engine to turn over unless I make multiple attempts with the remote start.

Short version of the question, is there any way to extend the length of time the key tells the motor to crank, or have it crank until a tach reading is noticed (I've heard the car systems have these).

Best as I can tell whatever wire you have cut for the pink/gray wiring is getting power when the secondary fuel rail kicks in. Same thing happened to me. This powers the engine cut off on the alarm and then the bike kick starts itself. You need a wire from the engine cutoff so the bike won't run if the alarm goes off. There is a discussion on pages 13 and 14

Hello guys!

Here is the problem
It seems to me that sometimes the alarm faulty kills the bike

Example.
Here i stand under the traffic light, waiting for green.
Green comes, i start to roll. Accelerating fast, and then bike shuts down, the gauge cluster dies (no lights). but the tail light and city lights are still on.
I do nothing, just holding the clutch for safety( to continue roll)
Than a 3-5 seconds pass, gauge cluster turns on (acting like the key turned), than i push the starter button, engine starts and all go back to normal.
I have some video to make it clear to look:

is it possible that pink + gray wires that i connected right, faulty shuts sometimes bike?
does anyone have that problem?

or maybe i'll better check again for example vehicle down sensor? but in manual for the bike is illustrated, even when the down sensor is shuts the bike, it wont kill the gauge cluster....
i dont know, maybe i better return to connection without grey and pink wires...

I see a couple of issues. How did you determine which wire to cut for the Pink and Grey wires? And how did you determine which wire to connect the brown wire to? These wires are connected to the wrong color wires. Not to say you don't have the correct wire but what is the function of the wires you chose?

i had these taped up and everything when i was testing it (i'm not a complete noob), but I'm not sure if I'm splicing these correctly???

Edit: getting kind of worried... why is the alarm on when I turn on the bike? fuel injectors go off when I press arm, and all the signals are on when i turn on the bike.....?????????? :(

Edit: Screw it, I have everything working except the remote start, never going to use it anyways.... hah

All good, thought we can bypass the hiss without leaving a transponder on the bike.
I've read those thread already thanks

Dimacus- should be fine. Mine did he same. Just make sure you do t leave your blinker on or the alarm will keep chirping the 3 chirps even if you arm it.

AJ26- I haven't tried on a bike but when we did cars that had chips in the key there was a special module with an antennae that went around the ignition that ten admitted the code to "trick" the ignition into thinking there was a key in it. But it took an extra key and the module. I'm sure it's got to be a similar option but not sure of the process with these alarms.

Thanks for advice.

Also i have a question
I have 2 bikes. CBR 919 and zx10r 2007. on both bikes i installed Spy 5000
when the alarm start to flash turn lights on 919 - all ok (the gauges there - mechanical analog)

but when alarm begin to flash on zx10r - the gauge cluster turn on and turn off rapidly, and also tachometer arrow jumping up and down, because the alarm sending signals to turn lights. Im a bit worried about gauge cluster.
Isnt it harmfull for it? or maybe connect wires some other way? or i shouldnt worry about that and you got the same thing?
