My friend just called and told me that he read today that Honda will release a SE Edition CBR 750 in 2007. It is supposed to be lighter ans faster than the litre bike. Has anyone else heard of this.

Friend needs to pony up the article. Very Hard to believe but could be in line for MotoGP's move to 800cc bikes in 07 or 08.

That'd be exactly what I'm looking for... and in 2 years I'll be looking for a new bike most likely anyways.

I certainly hope that you are right, but it seems to be a logical decision on honda's part. Suzuki has got the market all tied up and they do VERY well with the 750 the way it is. And with the 800cc MotoGP limit coming up, it just seems like a good idea anyways.

That would be awesome if Honda came out with a 750! I want to upgrade a little if I got another bike (and turned the RR into my race bike), and a litre bike would be too much bike for me.... and, the Suzuki's are just too fat for me :icon_lol:

Wouldn't surprise me.. I'd love to pick one up; Bigger than a 600 with lower insurance rates than the litre...

looks like the 750 class is back in the game. For a while i though the 750 sportsbikes class will be extinct since only Suzuki and Ducati are still coming out with them!

My thoughts exactly. When I had my 02 gixxer 750 I kept hearing rumors that 03 was the last year for it because the 600's were getting so fast no need for the 750. Glad they kept it around I hope Honda does on that would be great.

That doesnt make whole lot sense to me when thers talk about discontinuing the gsx-r 750, of course, im usually misinformed

+10 on the sweetness factor.. I'd love to see it, and honda might be able to get away with using the same block as the 600's, but that'd be a stretch. At either rate the only thing I wouldn't want is a ton of extra weight, so as long as that was kept down I would love a 750... damn, just imagine a 600rr with an extra 20 horsepower!

i'd also get one

ive read that they are thinking of going 800cc's rather than 1000cc's as well, and honda supposably have already started their development in building a bike to compete in that class.

OK guys, don't lose your heads. Some said they heard from someone that there will be a 750. I say BS. 750s will not be back int he road racing game anytime soon. 1000s are more exciting to watch and are pushing the limits of manufacturers.

Honda usually comes up with something special for the 750 class. RC30, RC45, RC51.

Reread the first post "SE Edition CBR 750 in 2007. It is supposed to be lighter ans faster than the litre bike"

Why would you greate a 750 faster than a liter bike? You would simply scrap the liter bike if that were the case.

I could see a cbr 750 in a way of a sport tourer, much like what the F4I has become. I highly doubt Honda would develop a race bike for a class that does not exist.

The duc 749 is raced in the 600cc class, there is no true 750 class that I am aware of (unless it's a spec bike rule, in which case suzuki would be the only contender).

Back in the day (which wasn't too long ago) the 750's ran with the 1000cc twins in superbike. Kawi had thier 750 as well as the zook, and the twins ran the bimoto, mille and rc's which were all 999cc type.

I can see the AMA switching to the premier class as 600cc, with the limits of horsepower being pushed it will become dangerous to run the liter bikes on americas excuse for race tracks.

I'd get one for sure. I have an 03 Gsxr 750 and that extra power is fun. Especially on the track.

As for 800's. MotoGP is going to an 800cc format. There is a chance that will trickle down to production level bikes. And if production level bikes come, than AMA will have to adopt it. Bumping the 750 to 800 is very logical.
